DAY 12~ Drop all your weight

DAY 12:

MISSION: DROP ALL YOUR WEIGHT

As long as we're on the subject of CTFO, let's dive in even deeper. Your teachers and guides are always telling you to "let go", but what does that really mean?

To me, whenever I counsel clients about weight loss, I want them to understand that dropping 'weight' can be done in various ways, not just blasting fat. To become a lifestyle, letting go of heavy habits eventually needs to happen on all levels in order for it to be lasting, or deeply satisfying. Luckily, since your body-mind-heart-spirit-life existence is intertwined, there is no separation between the actions you take outside or in. Evolving one automatically evolves all the others.

If you're willing to focus in on one area of weight loss, like eating and exercising, or cleaning out your home's funky, dusty junk drawers, you will notice that more lightness organically begins to appear in other areas of your life.

Lightening up your body is wonderful, and this course will help you do that, but it's important to realize that ultimately, any lasting shifts you make into health come from a profound reorientation at your core. Once you decide that you're worth loving and treating with reverence, your actions will change to reflect that. Otherwise, any quick-fix will be a temporary Band-Aid over the wounded state of your ability to self-value.

Truly liking, much less loving yourself is a tall order, I know, but it will come in time, the more you make--and KEEP--the primary commitments to be kinder to you, catch yourself when you fall into criticism and re-route reactions or coping mechanisms that harm you, sabotage your best intentions or otherwise bring you down.

Today, gather your courage, dive into the sweet and powerful relationship you can have with your amazing Self. Decide that you're pretty awesome, and dedicate yourself to letting go of the dysfunctional, heavy stories and habits that brought you into any kind of imbalance in the first place. Enjoy the freedom you gain to do things that bring you joy when you finally lighten up.

TODAY'S HEALTH TIP:

LET GO OF INSOMNIA AND OVERSLEEPING

Some people brag about the fact they only need 4-5 hours of a sleep a night to keep them refreshed and healthy. That's true--for a select--and lucky--few. However, numerous studies have shown that for most people, sleeping four to five hours a night causes hormone changes that lead to an increase in hunger and spike in that pesky stress hormone cortisol. People who have fewer than six hours of sleep have increased cravings -- especially for high-calorie sweets and salty foods -- and experience a lack of satiety.

In other words, catching perfect beauty sleep will keep the hunger pangs and fat-storing cortisol at bay, making it easier for you to stay motivated and successful at reaching your best body & 21 Day weight loss goals! I personally wake up 6 hours (exactly) after I go to sleep. It may be a good idea, to set your alarm for 6 hours after your bedtime & see how that feels because, oversleeping can cause the same problems with the over-production of cortisol. Anything over 8 hours and you are setting yourself up for a day of fatigue.

So, let go of poor sleeping habits. Get perfect beauty sleep and see how light you feel!

BONUS RECIPE:

You've learned the Belly Roll, which releases your serotonin and helps you get to sleep. Now here's a calming, cooling dish that is great for a pre-bedtime snack--or anytime!

Creamy Avocado Gazpacho
1 C. (237 ml) water
Flesh of 1 medium avocado, reserving 1 T. for garnish
2 C. (480 ml) chopped cucumber
1 1/2 C. (355 ml) chopped tomatoes
1/2 to 1 Serrano chile, with seeds, sliced (optional)
1 large clove garlic, minced
1 sprig mint leaves
Juice of 2 lemons or limes
1/2 t. salt
1 t. maple syrup (can use dates or honey to sweeten)
2 small mint leaves
Paprika (optional)

Combine all ingredients in a blender in the order listed. Start blender on low speed for a few seconds, then switch to high. Blend until creamy and smooth, about 1 1/2 minutes.

Pour into 2 soup bowls. Dice reserved avocado and gently drop into the center of the bowl.

Add a mint leaf and sprinkle diced avocado with paprika if desired. Serves 2.

TODAY'S YOGA TIP:

What's amazing about the style of yoga you've been doing for 12 days now is that you're able to directly experience working more from your inner body, thereby allowing the outer body tension to to let go.

The happy result of releasing the often overpowering outer muscles from squeezing too hard around every pose and making you heavier, is that you'll feel much more light and free during your yoga practice, yet you will actually burn more calories, build more heat, and lose more weight.

This is because your inner body muscles, or what we in the anatomy geek world call the 'Deep Core Line,' including your foot and hand arches, inner thighs, pelvic floor and diaphragm, psoas (so-as), and others, is built not only to stabilize your spine and joints more efficiently, it stimulates all your digestive, detox and reproductive organs to work better.

Today, envision that you have a smaller, liquid fire body inside your outer body that is generating every movement, then expanding out into your outer body muscles and skin to make more space, not less.. When you do this, you can begin to feel an almost weightless sensation in your outer body, or more superficial muscles, and you will begin to dissolve old areas of gripping and tension you may not even know you were holding onto.

Today, explore the lightness of being--and moving--from your Core Body in each moment!
